Best Casinos in Pennsylvania: 10 Casino Floors Worth the Drive

A roulette wheel, casino chips and dice on a casino table, with the Pennsylvania flag and the Philadelphia skyline at dusk beyond

The best casinos in Pennsylvania aren’t on a strip or a boardwalk. They’re spread across a big state, on an old steel mill in Bethlehem, a racetrack in Bucks County, a stretch of the Ohio River in Pittsburgh and a mountain resort in the Poconos. That spread is the fun of it, and it’s also the catch, because the right casino for you depends on which end of the state you’re driving from.

I ranked these 10 on the size of the gaming floor, what there is to do when you step away from it, and how easy each one is to reach. Every slot and table count comes from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s August 2026 reports rather than the casinos’ own marketing, which runs higher almost everywhere. You need to be 21 to set foot on any gaming floor in the state. For the online side of the market, our Pennsylvania casino guide covers the law and the licensed sites.

Before You Head Out for the Night, Try These Licensed Casino Sites

If you’d like to warm up before the drive, Pennsylvania has licensed online casinos since Hollywood Casino’s soft launch on July 15, 2019, and they’re a big business now. Online casino games brought in $245,699,011 in August 2026 alone, according to the PGCB, and the licensed brands link through land-based casinos such as Hollywood Casino and Valley Forge.

The regulator’s own list of interactive gaming operators names 24 brands, and it tells you to check that list before you bet. The three below are the top of our Pennsylvania ranking, and all three are on it. Bonus offers change every few weeks, so you’ll find the current one on each operator’s site rather than here. The US gambling laws guide explains which other states let you do this.

BetMGM

BetMGM is the MGM Resorts brand, and on the PGCB’s list it links through Hollywood Casino, the Penn National property near Harrisburg. That tie matters more than it sounds, because Hollywood Casino at Penn National took $95,392,213 in online revenue in August 2026, more than any other casino in the state.

It’s the one I’d pick if you want a polished app and a big game library, and if you already stay at MGM hotels on trips out of state. It is also a sensible first stop if you have never played online before.

DraftKings

DraftKings started in Boston in 2012 as a daily fantasy sports company before it moved into sports betting and casino games. In Pennsylvania its casino also links through Hollywood Casino on the PGCB’s list.

It works best if you already bet on sports with DraftKings, because you do not need to learn a second brand. It’s a good home for Slots and a quick hand of Blackjack after a game.

FanDuel

FanDuel is majority-owned by Flutter Entertainment, and its Pennsylvania casino links through Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia. Valley Forge took $67,458,374 in online revenue in August 2026, second only to Hollywood Casino.

The app is clean and fast, and it’s the one I’d hand to a friend who’s never gambled online. If Valley Forge is your local casino, it is the natural fit.

The Best Casinos in Pennsylvania at a Glance

Here are the best casinos in Pennsylvania side by side. Slot and table counts are the PGCB’s August 2026 averages, and I’ve rounded the table figures where the regulator reports a daily average.

Casino Where Run by Slots Tables Also on site
Wind Creek Bethlehem Bethlehem Wind Creek Hospitality 2,350 About 205 302-room hotel, outlets

Valley Forge Casino Resort King of Prussia Boyd Gaming 849 51 486-room hotel

How I Picked These 10

I started with the regulator’s numbers, because the PGCB counts every machine connected to the state’s central computer and publishes the average each month. Then I weighed what’s around the floor, meaning a hotel, a show room, a Poker room or a racetrack, and how easy it is to get to from Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg or New York. No casino paid to be on this list.

The picks are spread across the state on purpose, because nobody in Pittsburgh is driving across Pennsylvania to Bensalem for a Saturday night when there are two big floors and a mall casino within easy reach of home, and nobody in Philadelphia needs to drive west when Parx, Live! and Rivers are all on their doorstep. If you’re new to the games, our casino games explained page covers the basics before you sit down.

Pennsylvania Casinos by the Numbers

  • 18 casinos: the PGCB’s August 2026 slot report covers 18, since Happy Valley Casino opened in April 2026.
  • 24,520 slot machines: the statewide count in August 2026, up from 24,332 a year earlier.
  • About 1,362 tables: the average number of Table Games running across the state in August 2026.
  • 2,976 Slots: Parx’s average, the most machines of any casino in Pennsylvania.
  • About 205 tables: Wind Creek Bethlehem’s average, the most Table Games in the state.
  • $569,738,545: what every form of gaming in Pennsylvania took in during August 2026.
  • 21 years old: the minimum age for any casino gaming floor in Pennsylvania.

1. Wind Creek Bethlehem

wind creek bethlehem

Address: 77 Wind Creek Blvd, Bethlehem, PA 18015
Directions: Get directions

Wind Creek Bethlehem tops our list of the best casinos in Pennsylvania, and it’s the one to send a first-timer to. It opened on May 22, 2009 as the Sands, on the old Bethlehem Steel land, and was renamed Wind Creek in July 2019 after the Poarch Band of Creek Indians bought it. The gaming space covers 139,000 square feet.

The PGCB counted an average of 2,350 slot machines and about 205 Table Games in August 2026, which is the most tables of any casino in the state. Wind Creek’s own site says over 3,000 slot machines and more than 200 Table Games, so the table claim holds up and the slot claim doesn’t. There were 20 non-banking tables, the kind where you play against other players rather than the house.

Hotel, Shopping and Shows

The hotel has 302 rooms, The Outlets at Wind Creek opened on site in 2011, and the Event Center books concerts. Wind Creek says it’s just 90 minutes from New York City, and its Wind Creek Rewards card is free to join. Smoking is allowed in designated areas of the floor, so ask for the smoke-free side if that matters to you. Book a room, walk the outlets in the afternoon and play the tables at night, because nowhere else in the state gives you that much to do under one roof, and it’s the only casino on this list where a non-gambling partner has a full day of their own before the two of you meet up for dinner.

2. Parx Casino

parx casino

Address: 2999 Street Road, Bensalem, PA 19020
Directions: Get directions

Parx Casino in Bensalem is the biggest casino in Pennsylvania by slot machines, and it’s the richest by retail gaming revenue. It sits on a Thoroughbred racetrack in Bucks County, northeast of Philadelphia, which opened on November 4, 1974, and the casino followed on December 18, 2009. Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment owns and runs it.

The PGCB averaged 2,976 slot machines and about 180 Table Games at Parx in August 2026, and the casino took $31,456,463 from Slots and $14,630,351 from tables that month, the most of any casino in the state. The Poker room runs 48 tables, and the regulator’s count of 48 non-banking tables matches it exactly. Parx also runs 24-hour gaming, the Xcite Center for shows and the Parxview Hotel.

Why Parx Feels Different

Parx is smoke-free, which is still unusual here, since Pennsylvania’s casinos have an exemption from the state’s clean indoor air law. It’s the pick if you want the biggest floor in the state and you cannot stand coming home smelling of smoke, and it’s the casino I’d choose for a long session. You’ll see older lists quote over 3,200 Slots and 188 tables, and that’s above what the regulator counts today.

3. Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia

live casino hotel philadelphia

Address: 900 Packer Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19148
Directions: Get directions

Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia is the city’s big night out. It opened on February 4, 2021 at 900 Packer Avenue, near the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, and The Cordish Companies run it. It’s open 24/7/365, and you have to be 21 to wager.

The PGCB counted an average of 1,872 slot machines and 155 Table Games in August 2026, with 34 non-banking tables for Poker. Live!’s own site says over 2,000 slot machines and more than 140 Table Games, so the machine count is a little generous and the table count undersells it.

Where to Stay

The hotel has 208 rooms, which makes it the only casino hotel inside the Philadelphia city limits. I’d go on a game night, when the crowds walk over from the stadiums in South Philadelphia, the bars fill up before the first pitch or the opening kickoff, and the whole building is at its loudest from early evening until well after the final score.

4. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh

rivers casino pittsburgh

Address: 777 Casino Dr, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
Directions: Get directions

Rivers Casino Pittsburgh is the best casino in western Pennsylvania, and it has the best location of any casino on this list. It sits on the Ohio River next to the Kamin Science Center, close to Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park, and it opened on August 9, 2009.

The PGCB averaged 1,669 slot machines and about 126 Table Games there in August 2026, with 26 non-banking tables. Rivers advertises 24-hour gaming, over 1,900 slot games and 55 electronic Table Games in its Rush Table Zone, where you’ll find Craps, Roulette and Baccarat on touch screens. Some encyclopedia entries still give it 3,000 slot machines, which is nearly double today’s count.

Where to Stay

The casino now has its own hotel, The Landing Hotel, at 777 Casino Drive. I’d pair it with a game at Acrisure Stadium or PNC Park, because you’re only minutes from the tables when the final whistle goes.

5. Rivers Casino Philadelphia

rivers casino philadelphia

Address: 1001 N. Delaware Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19125
Directions: Get directions

Rivers Casino Philadelphia is the local’s casino on the Delaware River in Fishtown. It opened on September 23, 2010 as SugarHouse, took the Rivers name in 2019, and Rush Street Gaming owns it. There’s no hotel, so it’s a casino you drop into rather than stay at.

The PGCB counted an average of 1,510 slot machines and about 139 Table Games in August 2026, with 28 non-banking tables. It’s also a huge online business, taking $39,877,696 in online revenue that month, third in the state. The Event Center books comedy and tribute shows.

It’s smoke-free, like Parx, and it’s the pick for a weeknight hand of Blackjack when you don’t want to leave the city.

6. Mount Airy Casino Resort

mount airy casino resort

Address: 312 Woodland Rd, Mount Pocono, PA 18344
Directions: Get directions

Mount Airy Casino Resort is the one to book for a weekend away. It’s in Mount Pocono, it opened on October 22, 2007 on the site of the old Mount Airy Lodge, and the resort covers 1056 acres with the 18-hole Mount Airy Golf Club and a spa.

The PGCB averaged 1,556 slot machines and about 63 Table Games in August 2026 on a 62,000 square foot casino floor, with 6 non-banking tables. Mount Airy’s own site promises a 24/7 floor with over 1,800 Slots, which is well above the regulator’s count.

It’s smaller than the city casinos, and that’s the point. I’d go for a round of golf and a quiet table in the evening, not for sheer size.

7. Mohegan Pennsylvania

mohegan pennsylvania

Address: 1280 Highway 315, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702
Website: moheganpa.com
Directions: Get directions

Mohegan Pennsylvania in Plains Township, just outside Wilkes-Barre, is where Pennsylvania’s casino story starts. It became the state’s first Slots casino in November 2006, on the Pocono Downs harness track that opened in 1965, and it traded as Mohegan Sun Pocono until 2022.

The PGCB counted an average of 1,555 slot machines and 57 Table Games in August 2026, with 9 non-banking tables, on 82,000 square feet of gaming space. The hotel has 238 rooms. Some encyclopedia entries still say over 2,300 slot machines, which is well out of date.

It’s the easy pick for northeast Pennsylvania, and it is worth staying over if you’re coming up from Philadelphia for a show.

8. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows

hollywood casino at the meadows

Address: 210 Racetrack Road, Washington, PA 15301
Directions: Get directions

Hollywood Casino at the Meadows is Pittsburgh’s other big floor. It’s a harness racing track in North Strabane Township, about 25 miles southwest of the city, that ran as a racetrack from June 28, 1963 before the casino was added in 2007. Penn Entertainment runs it.

The PGCB averaged 1,875 slot machines in August 2026, more than Rivers Pittsburgh, plus 84 Table Games and 8 non-banking tables. You’ll see older lists put it at more than 3,300 slot machines, and nothing in the regulator’s reports comes close to that.

It’s a day trip or an evening from Pittsburgh rather than a resort stay. I’d go on a race night, and I’d eat before I got there.

9. Hollywood Casino at Penn National

hollywood casino at penn national

Address: 777 Hollywood Blvd, Grantville, PA 17028
Directions: Get directions

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, 17 miles east of Harrisburg, is the biggest money-maker in the state, even if its floor isn’t. The Thoroughbred track came first and the casino opened on February 12, 2008, and Penn Entertainment runs it.

The PGCB averaged 1,526 slot machines and about 55 Table Games there in August 2026, with 11 non-banking tables. What makes it big is online play, because $95,392,213 of its $109,549,167 total revenue that month came from online casino games, the most of any casino in Pennsylvania.

It’s the pick for central Pennsylvania and for a Harrisburg weekend. I’d catch the races, play a few hands and head home.

10. Valley Forge Casino Resort

valley forge casino resort

Address: 1160 First Avenue, King of Prussia, PA 19406
Directions: Get directions

Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia is the resort pick for the Philadelphia suburbs. It opened on March 31, 2012 and Boyd Gaming owns and runs it. The gaming floor covers 40,000 square feet, with two hotel towers and 100,000 square feet of meeting space.

The PGCB averaged 849 slot machines and 51 Table Games in August 2026, which is small by city standards. The hotel has 486 rooms, and the property took $67,458,374 in online revenue in August 2026, second in the state.

It’s more of a hotel with a casino than the other way round. I’d use it as a base for a work trip to King of Prussia, with a little play in the evening.

Best Casinos in Philadelphia

Philadelphia has two casinos inside the city, Live! Casino & Hotel in South Philadelphia and Rivers Casino in Fishtown, and three more within a short drive. Live! has the only hotel of the two and the most tables, with 155 in August 2026, while Rivers is smoke-free and right on the Delaware River.

Which Casinos Are Near Philadelphia?

Parx in Bensalem is the biggest in the state, with an average of 2,976 slot machines in August 2026. Harrah’s Philadelphia is on the Chester waterfront, a harness track and casino that opened on January 22, 2007, with 1,543 slot machines and 55 Table Games, and Caesars Entertainment runs it. Valley Forge in King of Prussia is the one with a proper resort hotel.

If you only have one night, I’d pick Live! for a big night out and Parx for the biggest floor. If you’re willing to cross the state line, our New Jersey guide covers Atlantic City and the rest of the shore.

Best Casinos in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh has one casino in the city, Rivers Casino on the Ohio River, and three more in the region. Rivers is the pick for most people, with about 126 Table Games and 1,669 slot machines in August 2026, and it’s close to both Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park.

What Casinos Are Near Pittsburgh?

Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, about 25 miles southwest, actually has more slot machines than Rivers, with 1,875. Live! Casino Pittsburgh is a mini-casino in the Westmoreland Mall complex in Greensburg, with 748 slot machines and 40 Table Games, and The Casino at Nemacolin is a resort casino in Farmington with 500 slot machines and 22 Table Games.

I’d go to Rivers for a game night, the Meadows for Slots and racing, and Nemacolin if you’re already staying at the resort.

What Is the Biggest Casino in Pennsylvania?

By slot machines, the biggest casino in Pennsylvania is Parx in Bensalem, with an average of 2,976 in August 2026, per the PGCB. By Table Games, it’s Wind Creek Bethlehem, with about 205. By total revenue, it’s Hollywood Casino at Penn National, and that’s almost all online play.

The Numbers You’ll See Elsewhere

A lot of casino lists are out of date, and that includes plenty that claim to rank the best casinos in Pennsylvania. You’ll still find Wind Creek listed as the Sands, which it stopped being in 2019, and Rivers Philadelphia as SugarHouse. You’ll see Pennsylvania described as having 12 or 17 casinos, when the regulator’s August 2026 report covers 18.

The slot counts drift, too. The Meadows gets more than 3,300 slot machines against the PGCB’s 1,875, Rivers Pittsburgh gets 3,000 against 1,669, and Mohegan gets over 2,300 against 1,555. Even the casinos’ own sites run high, which is why every count on this page is the regulator’s. If you want to know why the house keeps winning on all of them, read how casinos make money.

The Rest of the State

Up in Erie, Presque Isle Downs is a racetrack casino run by Churchill Downs, with 1,525 slot machines and 31 Table Games in August 2026. Happy Valley Casino in State College opened in April 2026 with 600 slot machines and 30 Table Games. The mini-casinos, Hollywood Casino York with 712 slot machines, Hollywood Casino Morgantown with 660 and Parx Shippensburg with 494, are fine for a quick stop and not worth a special trip.

Rules for a Night at a Pennsylvania Casino

Every casino in Pennsylvania has the same age rule, and it is stricter than you might expect. You must be 21 or older to enter the gaming floor or gamble, and the PGCB says it’s the casino staff’s job to check. It fined Parx $10,000 after an 18-year-old got onto the floor and played at a table, so expect to be carded.

ID, Hours and Kids

Bring a government photo ID, even if you look well past 21. Parx, Rivers Pittsburgh, Live! Philadelphia and Mount Airy all advertise 24-hour play. Kids can eat at some restaurants, but Wind Creek no longer escorts minors across the casino floor, so at Wind Creek you’ll enter through the hotel or the outlets.

Can You Smoke in a Pennsylvania Casino?

Pennsylvania’s 2008 clean indoor air law exempted casinos, so smoking is still allowed on part of most floors, and casinos must keep at least 50% of the floor smoke-free. Parx and Rivers Philadelphia are fully smoke-free. Dress is your call on the gaming floor, though I’d make a little more effort for the steakhouses.

Who Runs and Regulates Pennsylvania's Casinos

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board licenses and regulates every casino in the state, along with online casinos, sports betting, video gaming terminals and fantasy contests. It has done that job since the state’s 2004 Gaming Act created it as an independent agency to oversee what was then a brand-new industry of Slots parlors and racetrack casinos, long before anyone in Harrisburg was talking about online play. It counts every slot machine through the state’s central computer system, which is why its monthly reports are the numbers I trust.

Who Owns What

The owners are a mix of big groups and one tribe. Penn Entertainment runs both Hollywood Casinos on this list, Rush Street Gaming owns Rivers Philadelphia, Boyd Gaming owns Valley Forge, and the Poarch Band of Creek Indians owns Wind Creek. The online brands on the PGCB’s list link through land-based casinos like these. For the full legal picture, read our Pennsylvania gambling guide and the US casino hub.

Responsible Gambling

If gambling stops being fun, call 1-800-GAMBLER. It’s Pennsylvania’s 24-hour helpline, run by the Council on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania, and you can also text 800GAM or chat online. The National Problem Gambling Helpline is 1-800-MY-RESET, by call or text.

Self-Exclusion in Pennsylvania

The PGCB runs four self-exclusion programs, for casinos, online gambling, video gaming terminals and fantasy contests. You can sign up online, or at a PGCB office inside a licensed casino, and you can call the Office of Compulsive and Problem Gambling on 717-346-8300. A lifetime ban can’t be undone online.

But the simplest tool is still the best one, and that is deciding exactly how much you are willing to lose before you walk through the doors, taking that much in cash, leaving the bank cards at home and walking out when it’s gone, whatever the table is telling you. Our Responsible Gambling guide covers the rest.
