Editorial Guidelines

These Editorial Guidelines set out the standards every piece of content on Casinos.org is held to, and the firewall we keep between our editorial judgement and our commercial interests. They explain how we research, test, fact-check and update our reviews, who writes them, how we use technology responsibly, and how we put it right when we get something wrong. Casinos.org exists to help readers make safe, informed choices about where, and whether, to gamble online. Our job is to test operators properly, explain the rules clearly, and tell you the truth about what we find, including the bad parts. We would rather lose a commission than recommend a site we would not use ourselves. Everything below is how we hold ourselves to that.

This is the most important principle we have, so we will be blunt about it. Casinos.org earns money from advertising and affiliate commissions. That funding keeps the site free, but it buys nothing editorial. An operator cannot pay to raise its rating, climb our rankings, soften a verdict, or remove a criticism. Our commercial team and our editorial team work separately, and the people who write and score reviews are not paid on the basis of which operators perform best for us commercially.

If a brand we have a commercial relationship with performs badly in testing, we say so, and we rank it accordingly. Where a recommendation is also a commercial link, that does not change the assessment behind it. We disclose our affiliate relationships openly in our Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure, and we believe transparency about how we are funded is part of being trustworthy, not a footnote to it.

Our reviews are based on evidence, not press releases. Wherever possible we open real accounts, make real deposits and withdrawals, play the games, and contact customer support as an ordinary user would, so we can report genuine wait times, real payout speeds and honest first-hand impressions. We record what we find and write from those notes. When we describe a bonus, a payment method or an app, we are describing something we have actually examined, not something we have assumed. Facts on Casinos.org are checked against primary sources before they are published. Licence details are verified against the relevant regulator. Bonus amounts, wagering requirements, minimum deposits and withdrawal limits are checked against the operator’s own live terms. Legal claims are checked against the actual law or the regulator’s published position. If we cannot verify a fact from a reliable source, we do not publish it as fact. We prefer primary sources every time: the regulator’s register, the operator’s own site and terms, the statute, the court judgment, or our own testing. Where we cite data or news we attribute it to a credible, named source such as a regulator, a court, or an established news organisation. We do not present another review site’s ratings or findings as our own, and we do not rely on competitor affiliate sites as a source of fact. Our opinions are clearly our opinions, and our facts are clearly sourced.

Gambling law is different in every market, and getting it right is a matter of reader safety, not just accuracy. Before we recommend or list an operator in a given country, we check that it holds a licence that is actually valid in that country for the product we are describing. We distinguish between a sports-betting licence and a casino licence, between a locally licensed operator and an offshore one, and we tell readers plainly when an activity is restricted, grey or prohibited where they live. When the legal position changes, such as a new court ruling or regulator decision, we update the affected content to reflect it. We will never describe an operator as legal or licensed in a market where it is not.

We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do we fix them quickly and openly. If you spot an error, please tell us and we will check it against the source and correct it where needed. Reviews and guides are also reviewed and refreshed on a regular cycle so the bonuses, terms and legal information stay current, because out-of-date information can be as misleading as an outright error. We update the “last updated” date when we make a substantive change, and we do not re-date content cosmetically to make it look fresher than it is.

Our content is created and controlled by people. We may use AI tools to help with research, drafting or routine checks, but AI does not have the final say on anything we publish. Every fact is verified by a human against a real source, every page is reviewed and edited by a member of our team, and the editorial judgement, opinions and recommendations are ours. We do not publish AI-generated claims that have not been checked, and we do not let automation substitute for genuine testing and human expertise.

Our reviews are written and reviewed by real people with experience in the gambling industry, and our articles carry a byline so you can see who stands behind the work. We disclose this clearly, and as explained above it never influences our editorial verdicts. Members of our editorial team are expected to declare any personal conflict of interest, and to step back from covering an operator where a conflict could reasonably be perceived. We write about gambling responsibly. Our content is for adults aged 18 and over (21 and over where local law requires), it is not aimed at children or vulnerable people, and we never present gambling as a way to make money or to recover losses. We signpost free, confidential help throughout the site, and we treat responsible gambling as part of the editorial standard, not an afterthought.
