UNO Coming to Online Casinos?
Mattel has launched the UNO Social Club at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, and one of the most popular card games of all time could be about to make a major impact on online casinos.
Over 150 million UNO sets have sold since Mattel bought the concept in 1996, and you can find them in 80% of American households according to Mattel. In a bid to bring the popular family game to a new crowd, Mattel teamed up with one of Las Vegas’s biggest casino resorts to launch the UNO Social Club. It’s not a one-off either, as Mattel has plans to open UNO Social Clubs in every gambling state.
This Game is Almost Casino Ready
UNO is already available as a mobile app on the Apple Store and Google Play, with more than 180 million downloads and a near-perfect 4.7-star rating on the Apple Store and a 4.4-star rating on Google Play. The app has tournament features, battles with friends, team modes and a wealth of options and choices. The only thing missing is a betting mechanism.
Monopoly, Snakes & Ladders, Deal or No Deal and many more have been licensed to software providers for branded slots, table games and live game shows. But the universal appeal of UNO could take things to a whole new level.
Critics might argue that adding gambling to the occasion could tarnish the squeaky clean image of a great family game. However, with the launch of the UNO Social Club, Mattel has clearly already made that decision. With the hugely popular and polished app just missing a gambling element, it’s hard to see how UNO won’t make the jump to online casinos in the very near future.
