Prize Patrol

Modo.us owner ARB Interactive has bought the assets of Publisher’s Clearing House for $7.1 million and looks set to relaunch the brand as a sweepstakes casino.

Back in the 1990s, PCH raked in more than $1 billion a year in annual revenues, selling discounted magazine subscriptions and household goods on home shopping channels like QVC. The main business, though, was the Prize Patrol nationwide sweepstakes, where the winners received giant checks on live television that were delivered to their door by the Prize Patrol team.

The empire fell apart in the late 90s when the Federal Trade Commission investigated PCH for deceptive business practices. The company gave the impression that buying products increased people’s chances of winning the Prize Patrol, but in fact, it made no difference.

PCH Bankrupt in 2025

The iconic sweepstakes lost its allure and became a footnote in popular culture. Eventually, after more run-ins with the FTC and $40 million in debt, Publisher’s Clearing House finally filed for bankruptcy two months ago.

Now, ARB Interactive has taken over the assets in a bankruptcy auction. It was already consulting with advisory firm SCCG Management, which had ambitious plans to turn PCH into a social and sweepstakes casino. That partnership fell by the wayside, but now ARB Interactive looks set to go it alone.

Patrick Fechtmeyer, Chief Executive Officer at ARB, said: “Pending court approval, we’re excited to begin this next chapter and deliver an experience that honors the legacy of the brand while earning the trust of a new generation of players.”

Modo.us is a market leader in the sweepstakes casino space. Bringing a storied brand like Publisher’s Clearing House back from the dead and transforming the Prize Patrol into a modern-day social casino experience could be a smash hit in the making.

We’ll watch this closely.
