Slingo will no longer feature on sweeps casinos

Slingo games have disappeared from all sweepstakes casino platforms. The popular hybrid game format that blends slots and bingo elements has been completely removed from the sweepstakes casino ecosystem following a decision by its owner.

Gaming Realms, the London-based company that acquired the Slingo brand in 2015, has pulled the games from sweeps casinos. This move potentially signals growing caution among game providers regarding association with sweepstakes casinos amid increasing scrutiny.

The removal affects many major sweepstakes platforms, including Mega Bonanza, McLuck, Hello Millions, PlayFame, Fortune Coins, High 5, and Chumba. Players who previously enjoyed titles like Lucky Larry’s Lobstermania Slingo and Deal or No Deal Slingo using Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins can no longer access these games.

Legislation Targets Sweeps Casinos

This development comes as lawmakers in several states, including Montana, Louisiana, and New York, have introduced legislation targeting sweepstakes casinos. Similar legislation failed recently in Arkansas and Maryland, but there is definite pushback against sweeps casinos. Some operators have read the room and withdrawn entirely from jurisdictions hostile to their business model.

Gaming Realms holds gaming supplier licenses in multiple regulated markets including Nevada, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Ontario. Its subsidiaries and partners also maintain licenses with the UK Gambling Commission and operate in European markets like Italy and Romania.

The company may be prioritizing its licensed operations and relationships in regulated markets by distancing itself from the sweepstakes casino industry, which exists in a legal gray area.

Industry observers expect another provider will likely develop Slingo-like alternatives for sweepstakes platforms in the near future to fill this gap in the market. Indeed this could be a profitable niche for a sweeps casino operator that makes their own games in-house.
