That said, as LoneStar is a new business, it is bound to have weaknesses here and there. These include its bonus offering, customer support and overall user experience, which we will cover in greater detail later.

LoneStar’s lack of a license isn’t a problem, as sweepstakes casinos do not require them to operate. On top of this, the casino is fully compliant with all the necessary laws, and is available in a wide range of US states. The casino is only restricted to players in Idaho, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, and Washington. 

LoneStar has made creating an account quite straightforward. All players are required to provide their personal details, including their email address, date of birth, and location. However, these are completely standard requirements, and the process is completed quickly.

The compliance measures for redemptions are completely standard as well, with KYC checks required before you make your first redemption. As well as this, regional restrictions apply to redemptions, with players able to withdraw $10,000 a day outside of New York and Florida, where this drops to $5,000.

LoneStar’s frankly poor reputation may have a fair bit to do with the fact that the casino is very new at the time of writing. Its X page was only created a few months ago, and only has 21 followers, while its Instagram page has only 6 followers. It’s a slightly better story where its Facebook page is concerned, as LoneStar’s page has 2,000 likes and 2,100 followers.

The casino has a very poor Trustpilot score of just 2.8 stars, but it’s important to point out that this is only based on 3 reviews, which is hardly an informative sample.

General Terms

The Terms and Conditions are fairly standard. The casino lays out that it is your responsibility to prevent others from accessing your account. On top of this, the casino lays out its withdrawal limits, so there is no doubt as to how much you are allowed to withdraw.

In line with standard requirements, all Sweeps Coins must be wagered at least once before they can be redeemed. That said, I do believe the minimum redemption requirement of 100 Sweeps Coins is quite high. I would also like to see Gift Cards redemptions made available, as this would make the banking process much more accessible.

As we mentioned at the start, bonuses are one of the main areas where LoneStar needs the most improvement. Although there are ways for players to acquire Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins for free, the bonus selection is very limited overall.

Welcome Bonus

At the time of writing, although we were able to establish that there is some sort of welcome bonus for players to take advantage of, we were not able to find any concrete details. Given that the casino was only launched very recently, we have every reason to believe the casino will make a concrete welcome bonus available soon.

On top of the lack of definitive information about the welcome bonus, we were disappointed to learn that there is absolutely no first purchase bonus available at LoneStar. 

It’s safe to say that new players may feel quite underwhelmed by LoneStar’s attempt to encourage them to sign up.

Ongoing Promotions

Although the welcome bonus offering at LoneStar is bad, its ongoing promotions aren’t much better. While a Daily Login bonus is available, it only offers up to 1 Sweeps Coin.

That said, players can fill out multiple Mail-In bonus requests, but they must be filled out in accordance with the rules laid out on the website. It’s also worth pointing out that this type of bonus is notoriously slow. 

Aside from the Mail-In and Daily Login bonuses, the only other means of acquiring free currency is through email promotions, but these aren’t available that often.

Loyalty Program

Unfortunately, there is no loyalty program available to LoneStar’s customers at the time of writing. 

We hope to see this fixed in the future, as it would provide players with a reason to stick around. Simply offering ongoing promotions isn’t enough, and this is especially true given how poor the existing bonuses are at LoneStar.

On the bright side, the Terms and Conditions surrounding redemptions were mostly as we expected. All Sweeps Coins come with a 1x wagering requirement, and are worth $1 each.

However, the banking process at LoneStar is still a let down, as there are no Gift Card redemption options and players need at least 100 Sweeps Coins to redeem a Cash Prize, which we feel is very high.

The payment options at Funz Casino are limited, but reliable. You’ll have to go with rely on Skrill or Bank Transfers for both deposits and redemptions.

Purchase Methods

Although the deposit methods at LoneStar are limited to two options, we were pleasantly surprised to find Skrill available in addition to Bank Transfers, as sweeps casinos that support eWallets can be hard to find.

The range of Gold Coin bundles was also welcome, as each bundle offers solid value. All bundles come with a Sweeps Coins bonus that directly correlates to the price you pay, and the fact that they start at just $3 makes them accessible to all users.

Redemption Methods

Interestingly, LoneStar supports the same methods for both deposits and withdrawals. It’s here that Skrill really shows its value, as it cuts the maximum wait time from 7 days for a Bank Transfer down to just 3 days. What’s more, as this is a maximum wait, it is possible to get your winnings in even less time.

However, as we stated earlier, the 100 SC requirement for a redemption is very high. We have to knock a few points off for this, as we feel this high limit reduces the accessibility of withdrawals. We would also like to see Gift Cards made available, as this would make it much easier for players to convert their Sweeps Coins into prizes.

LoneStar transactions are kept secure thanks to up-to-date SSL encryption software in addition to HTTPS software. The double layer of protection is always welcome, and the support of online Bank Transfers and Skrill provides an extra layer of security on top.

Website Design & Navigation

Unfortunately, the website design at LoneStar needs a fair bit of work, but this isn’t surprising given how new the casino is. While there are plenty of categories to make getting around the website easier, I was very frustrated by the optimization of the website. Significant numbers of both game icons and the games themselves were cut off, and even playing in landscape mode on my mobile device didn’t solve this issue. 

Getting around may be easy, but the poor user experience needs to be addressed as soon as possible if the casino is to have any hope of growing.

Mobile Gaming

Although LoneStar doesn’t offer a mobile app, this isn’t a major problem. Most sweeps casinos don’t provide this to their customers either, so it would be unfair to expect LoneStar to buck this trend. Plus, the casino is brand new, so expecting an app from the get-go is also unrealistic.

I also found that the website works the same on a mobile device and a desktop computer, which ensures mobile players don’t miss out on anything.

As we mentioned earlier, customer support is one of the main areas where LoneStar needs the most improvement. As it stands, the only contact option is via email, and although the support team were very helpful, they cannot do everything themselves. If this isn’t fixed, we wouldn’t be surprised to see waiting times for replies get even longer than they already are. 

There is an FAQ page available, but it isn’t much good at all, as the content is very basic. This also contributes to the long wait times for a reply via email, which currently sits at around 4 hours.

Responsible Gaming Measures

LoneStar provides its players with a solid range of Responsible Gambling tools to help them stay in control. These include purchase limits, time limits, and self-exclusion. On top of this, LoneStar also makes activity reminders available, as well as your playing history. 

However, while the first impression of LoneStar’s Responsible Gambling measures was very good, we ended up having to knock off a few points upon further inspection. While the purchase limits, time limits, and self-exclusions are great for helping players stay in control, you can’t impose these restrictions yourself. Instead, LoneStar makes you go through customer service. We found this quite patronizing, as LoneStar’s customers are adults and should be treated as such.

LoneStar’s library might be relatively limited, but the titles all come from trusted game developers. This is a positive sign, as although 320 titles isn’t the biggest amount I’ve encountered, there should still be enough to entertain most players. 

While numerous areas of the casino need improving, such as the bonuses, user experience, and customer support, I believe these issues will be fixed in time. LoneStar’s sister RealPrize has had enough time to get a lot of things right, and I fully expect LoneStar to follow suit.
