Andrej’s been around since day one. Let’s just say that he could get around an online casino blindfolded. That’s not to say that he does, he’s a perfectionist at heart. Fine print? There is none with Andrej.
When reviewing slots, we have seen our fair share of games that use gemstones as a theme. We have also seen some games that are set in the laboratories of less than scientists. Well, Red Tiger have managed to combine these two concepts in their Reactor slot.
You can read this Reactor slot review to find out whether Red Tiger managed to pull off a real trick and produced a game of gem-scattered genius, or whether their experiment just blew up in their faces.

The Reactor slot game is played on a grid with 5 reels and 3 rows, and there are 20 paylines. These paylines run from both the left and right side of the reels, which is a pleasing touch that opens up more opportunities to win. You can win up to 5000x your stake in this game, with the minimum bet for UK players being 20p and the maximum £20. There is an autoplay feature that you can use if you want to watch the action take place, but you can adjust this too. You can set autoplay to stop if you lose a specific amount of money. You can also set it to stop when the bonus feature begins.
The game is fully compatible with mobile devices and is available in 31 different languages. These include Japanese, Italian and Dutch as well as English. The reactor was released by Red Tiger in September 2018, so is one of the newer games from this respected developer.
Red Tiger gives the RTP of this game as 96.02%, which is not untypical for a slot of this type. It alos fits into the usual range of Red Tiger slots, which tend to have an RTP of between 95% and 96.50%. Ninja Ways, for example, has an RTP of 96.03%, while Mega Pyramid’s RTP stands at 96.18%. Slots with a lower RTP from Red Tiger include Rio Stars (95.73%) and Three Musketeers (95.15%).
If you like to base your slots gaming strategy around the variance of a game then you should know that Reactor is a high variance slot. This means that you should be looking out for the big wins that come from features, as frequent small wins are not going to come your way. This was borne out by our experience of playing the game. We found that the special symbols, the wild and the battery bonus symbol, did not appear on the reels very often at all. When a big win did come along, though, it was massive, so patience is rewarded in this slot.
The Reactor slot looks really impressive. The opening sequence of the game before play starts can be compared to the opening of a high-quality cartoon movie, such as the classiness of the graphics and the smoothness of the animation. We are taken into the bowels of some kind of laboratory, with equipment flashing and bringing crystals together in dramatic experiments. The action on the reels looks just as impressive.
The whole scene in the laboratory is very detailed, and the purple shades of the background help to create a slightly spooky, sci-fi atmosphere that is enjoyably immersive. The music is suitably dramatic and, while not outstanding, is certainly above average when it comes to the kind of music you’ll often find in slots.
The only thing that lets the visual design of the game down a little is the symbols on the reels. These consist of variously coloured gems. The lower value symbols are single crystals in yellow, purple, red and green. The higher value symbols are the same colour crystals but combined and used as scientific components. One thing that is worth noting is that it is sometimes tricky to tell the difference between all of the symbols. Many are the same colour and a similar shape, which can make it hard to see wins if you are playing the game at speed.
The game’s scatter symbol is the battery, and we’ll look at how significant this symbol is the next section of this slot review. The wild is easy to spot as it is a ball of electrical energy. The wild will substitute for all other symbols to create new winning combinations for you. The only symbol it cannot replace is the battery.
The Reactor slot only has one feature for you to enjoy. This is a free spins feature, but you can benefit from some potentially very lucrative modifiers on these spins. The feature is triggered by the battery scatter symbol appearing on the reels. The number of spins and modifiers you receive depends upon the number of batteries that appear on the reels. You can see more detail about this here:
While this is not the most engaging or inventive feature that we have ever seen in a slot, it does offer a great deal of potential for you to take home large prizes. When we played the game we generated some large wins from the free spins feature. We do have to repeat, though, that triggering the feature did take a long time, and you need to be prepared to wait patiently for it to come along.
While we were disappointed with certain aspects of this game, this Reactor slot review will conclude on a broadly positive note. The graphics and sound are certainly very impressive, though the design of some of the symbols on the reels could perhaps have been a little more refined. There is just one bonus feature, and it doesn’t trigger very often, but it can generate very large wins for you. The game does look very classy, and we enjoyed playing it overall.
If you enjoyed Reactor and you think you might like to play more games based on a scientific theme, then try Mad Scientist from Betsoft. Another possible option is Big Bang from Net Entertainment.
