Hall of Gods Slot – Where Norse Mythology Meets Big Jackpots

Calling all players looking to bring out the Norse God in themselves! Hall of Gods was actually NetEnt’s first jackpot slot ever released. Not even Net Entertainment themselves could have predicted the success that awaited this progressive. Many software providers have tried to hop on the bandwagon of mythological slots, but few have been triumphant. There’s a reason we’re writing this Hall of Gods slot review, some 10 years after it was released. Something about the NetEnt slot machine continues to lure players in and we’re here to find out.

Hall of Gods Slot Limits & General Layout

In terms of layout, this jackpot is no different from comparable slots by the same provider. Similar to Arabian Nights, another multi-million jackpot by NetEnt, it has 5 reels and 3 rows. Both fall under the low to medium volatility family. The only difference can be found in the fact that Hall of Gods has 20 paylines. That’s double the amount of the other slot machine.

In terms of betting range, there are 5 levels to choose from. Additionally, the coin value ranges from 0.01 to 0.50. Together, this amounts to minimum wagers of €/£/$0.20 up to a maximum bet limit of €/£/$50. This definitely adds flexibility for players alongside that handy autoplay feature that has become second nature for online slots. Nevertheless, the inability to toggle with the number of paylines could be dearly missed by NetEnt fans who have ever played Mega Fortune. That and the fact that the Hall of the Gods slot RTP is also lower than the latter. This brings us to the next section.

Hall of Gods RTP

The Hall of the Gods RTP comes in at 95.3%. For the keen slot player, this could potentially be seen as below par. Especially when you keep in mind that approximately 7% of this is used to fund jackpots. You must remember that this is a progressive slot though and compared to others, the RTP still ranks decently. Take Playtech’s Age of Gods, for instance, released in 2016. The name in itself clearly hints at this being copycat slot. Yet still, the RTP for this game sits in the 94% region.

Audio & Design – Intense but Retro

Norse Mythology is an epic storyline and yet the audio does fall slightly short. Don’t get us wrong, there is some element of suspense but Hall of Gods also has an arcade feel to it. We’d have preferred a more intense soundtrack similar to NetEnt’s Divine Fortune. The latter plays on a similar theme but was released 7 years later. Perhaps even the software provider themselves noticed where Hall of Gods was falling short.

The audio may not exactly set the tone but luckily the visuals are in line with the theme. That icy effect alongside knotted rope represents Nordic culture perfectly. Add in the actual symbols which include a handful of the Mythological Gods themselves as well as hammers, picks and anything thing else that is emblematic of that era. Suddenly Hall of Gods starts to feel more like the colourful video slots we all love.

Hall of Gods Slot Bonuses – Legendary to Say the Least

If you opt for a progressive slot, then chances are that it’s the big jackpot that you’re after. The interesting thing about Hall of Gods though, is this isn’t a one-man show. NetEnt have added in a good amount of bonus features too. When you consider that triggering a jackpot bonus will take some time, this is a great way to keep players engaged. The Wilds are represented by the dragon symbol. As always, these can be used to replace any other panel with the exception of scatters and bonus symbols. Scatter symbols are represented by ravens whilst the hammer of Thor is the bonus symbol. These last two panels are what’s needed to unlock other in-game features. More on this in our next sections.

Hall of Gods Free Spins

You’ll have to know a thing or two about Norse mythology to understand the correlation between ravens and the slot’s main theme. These actually represent Huginn and Muninn, the helpers of the God Odin. Luckily, you don’t need to know any of this to be in with a chance at triggering Hall of Gods free spins. To activate this feature you’ll need to land a minimum of 3 scatter symbols on any of the reels. The more scatters you hit, the more free spins you’ll receive.

  • 3 scatters: 10 free spins
  • 4 scatters: 15 free spins
  • 5 scatters: 20 free spins

To top it all off there’s also an x3 multiplier available on all winnings during this round. The only exception to this is winnings from a bonus game activated during this round. When you’ve just unlocked the door to big jackpots though, missing out on a multiplier will be the least of your worries.

Hall of Gods Progressive Jackpot

The moment you have all been waiting for, Hall of God’s jackpots. And all it takes is landing 3 bonus symbols! Well at least if you want to unlock the bonus round that is. If you know anything about jackpots, then you can already understand that this is easier said than done. It is impossible to predict what symbols you’ll score. It is, however, a known fact that those who bet big on Hall of Gods slot are in with a better chance. This doesn’t mean that low wagers are ruled out though! You’ll just need a lot more luck for it to happen.

This is where the fun actually starts. Players will then need to use the Thor’s Hammer to reveal what’s behind the hidden panels. It’s either a coin amount or a jackpot symbol. The first 3 matching symbols unveiled will be what you end up taking home. In terms of coins, the highest amount is capped at 7,500. As for Jackpots, since this is progressive, we can’t give you exact values as they are subject to change. The list below will give you a better idea of the start-up value for each.

  • MINI: $/€/£100 + 10% contributions that were set aside for the next jackpot
  • MIDI: $/€/£5,000 + 10% contributions that was set aside for the next jackpot
  • MEGA: depends on contributions amount but at least, the full amount that was set aside for the next jackpot

Now, this may not be the biggest progressive jackpot slot out there, at least when compared to record-breaker Mega Moolah. Hall of God does still join the multimillion slot portfolio. It only takes looking at the all-time highest payouts below to confirm this.
